 The Proud Mama

I'm a 35 year old woman brought into this world on February 23rd 1971 and  married to the same man for 13 years, mother to 2 hilarious, extremely handsome boys and one beautiful baby boy, who was totally NOT planned, but who turned out to be the Joy of our lives,  loves to drink ice tea and hot chocolate from Starbucks. There is more to me than just being a mother, I just don't remember any of it.

..: Resting... :..

Taking a break for now... was bleeding again last Monday. Dr found my placenta was very low near the cervix that causes the bleeding. Alhamdullilah there was no opening on the cervix. Had been given 5 days hospitalisation leave.

Insyallah, will make a comeback once I am well enough.

..: Oh Wow! :...

Wow. In the last few hours I've felt like I swallowed a goldfish. I've gone from feeling no movement, to feeling little taps all morning. Constantly. Have I mentioned that I think this is probably the coolest thing about being pregnant?

..: Well It's A... :..

Little sweet potato who refused to cooperate at all and let us see its bits. Oh sure, it showed off it's brain (enormous like mine!), heart and spine.....but had its legs crossed defiantly and if it didn't, it was using its hands to cover itself.

What a little pain. :( But, seriously, would you expect anything else from any child of mine?

Besides that little disappointment (I do not like waiting for surprises), I'm happy everything looked good and healthy. Now I've got to wait for another month!

..: I Like to Move It! Move It! :..

I'm trying really hard not to be too excited until I'm a little more sure, but I think I've felt the baby move a few times over the past couple of days, especially if I lie down and I'm still. It's just a bit of fluttering at this point and I didn't notice any movement with Afzal until it was a definite jab at about 17-18 weeks. It's hard to tell. You never realize how much activity goes on in your stomach until you're pregnant and trying to figure out if your baby is moving around or not.
But I think it was. It's pretty exciting!

I tend to complain a lot about various pregnancy symptoms, like the morning sickness, the exhaustion, and the random aches and pains but it's all worth it just to finally get to the point where you feel little pokes and kicks every day. I've heard it bothers some women, that they find it weird, and that must be hard because it lasts for a long time. I love it though, especially when the baby is big enough that you not only feel it yourself but you can see limbs jutting out from under your skin.

I feel a little giddy :)

..: Silver Lining :..

Today a collegue said to me "Wow! You've really lost some weight, you look GREAT! Are you on a diet?"I said "Yes, it's called the extreme long-term morning sickness diet!"She was very congratulatory and surprise, she said she'd noticed I'd been losing weight lately. I know. This will be short lived. I'll be the size of a house soon.

But, for now, it is a small consolation for the weeks of feeling so off. What I can't figure is if I look so slim, how is it all my pants are killing me now?

..: Oh Dear... :..

It's almost 10:25pm right now and as I sit here by the balcony, all I can smell is someone cooking something that smells suspiciously like chicken on a BBQ. My stomach, which was doing just fine a few minutes ago, is now growling like I haven't eaten in weeks. It smells so good out there that I am desperately wishing that I knew my neighbours well enough to holler down for a sliver of whatever it is.

I guess I'd better go find myself a snack.

..: Mini Olympics :..

Asyraf had his first mini-olympics yesterday. He was in the soccer team as a defender. The weather was killing but it was really fun to see the kids in all the events.
